Isle of Man Steam Packet Company

The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company is a ferry company based in Douglas on the Isle of Man. The Company connects Douglas on the Isle of Man by several passenger and cargo liner services with the ports of Birkenhead, Heysham and Liverpool in the United Kingdom, Belfast in Northern Ireland and Dublin in Ireland. An outstanding historical significance of the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company is the oldest continuously operated passenger shipping company in the world.

History

The Isle of Man has received 1767 first regular ferry connections to the mainland. Today by Isle of Man Steam Packet Company was founded on June 30, 1830 under the name Mona's Isle Company ( named after the first ship of the company ) as a competitor to the existing ferry companies, particularly the St. George Steam Packet Company from Liverpool founded. The ferry service was continuously maintained until today. 2006 acquired the Australian investment bank Macquarie Bank, the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company for about 225 million pounds.
