Geography

Location

It is located on the territory of the department of Flores in the sector 4 in the south-western tip of the department. Here the limits are to the Nachbardepartamentos Soriano, Colonia and San Jose. Immediately east of the village stems from the Arroyo Grande.

History

Ismael Cortinas was founded on 18 October 1950 and bears the name of the same name, the former Uruguayan Senate President Ismael Cortinas. On October 15, 1963 Ismael Cortinas was granted by the law of the state Nr.13.167 villa.
