ISO 3166-2:CN
The list of ISO -3166 -2 codes for People's Republic of China contains the codes for the 34 administrative units.
The codes are composed of two parts which are separated by a hyphen. The first part is the country code according to ISO 3166-1 ( for PRC CN), the second is the code for the administrative unit again. The current country code, in the Sixth Newsletter of 8 March 2004 (PDF) last updated. The Chinese administrative units are divided into 23 provinces ( sheng ), 5 autonomous regions ( zizhiqu ), 4 direct-controlled cities ( shi ) and 2 special administrative regions ( tebie xingzhengqu ). The entries are listed in Pinyin without diacritics.
