Italian Footballers' Association

The Associazione Italiana Calciatori (known as AIC) is an Italian association football player. It was founded on July 3, 1968 by a group of football players, which consisted of Giacomo Bulgarelli, Sandro Mazzola and Gianni Rivera, Ernesto Castano, Giancarlo De Sisti, Giacomo Losi, Carlo Mupo, Giorgio Sereni, Gianni Corelli and Sergio Campana.

First, the AIC represented only players from Serie A and Serie B. At the beginning of the 1970s was also the Player of the Series C and Series D, the so-called amateur players, integrated. The AIC publishes a list of club loose players who are members of the Association.

Since 1997, the Association awards the Oscar del Calcio, in which the best players of each year are elected annually. Among other things, the football coach of the year, young player of the year and foreign player of the year is chosen. In addition, the AIC uses against racism.

Another concern of the AIC are the player's rights, ie payment, measures against injuries and security in the stadiums. In addition, the lavish club policy, the club president and the indebtedness of Serie A clubs was criticized by Campana already in 1994.

The seat of the Association is located in the Venetian city of Vicenza, current president of the AIC is the former pro and lawyer Sergio Campana.
