Ivan Garanin

Ivan Ivanovich Garanin (Russian: Иван Иванович Гаранин; born August 1, 1945 in Rudny, Kostanay ) is a former Soviet cross-country skier.

His first international appearance was Garanin at the Olympic Winter Games 1972 in Sapporo. He was able to occupy the 17th place over 50 km. His first medal at the World Championships, he won at the 1974 Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun, Sweden when he won the second place in the relay. About 50 km Garanin fourth. At the Olympic Winter Games two years later in Innsbruck, he won his first international individual medal - bronze over 30 km. Also bronze he won again with the season, about 15 km and 50 km, he reached the fourth place.

1977 won the Vasaloppet in itself Garanin first Soviet cross-country skier. Overall, he won seven national titles.

After his playing career Garanin works as a trainer in his native Kazakhstan.
