Career

Ivan Kuilakow grew out in Perwomajez and began as a teenager in 1998 with the rings. In the meantime, he belongs to a wrestler Club in Tver in the Novosibirsk region. He concentrates fully on the Greco- Roman style. Rings is currently also his profession. Was trained and he is so far mainly by Andrei Lissiza and Vladimir tributors.

He was already successful as a junior and has been in the years 2005 and 2006 Russian Junior Featherweight Champion, the weight class in which he still starts today. 2005 also began his international career, as he finished at the Junior European Championship (U 20) in Wroclaw behind Atacan Yüksel from Turkey and before Emil Milew, Bulgaria and Davor Stefanek, Serbia, the 2nd place. In the European Junior Championships in 2006 in Szombathely / Hungary he could not repeat that success really, because he reached there the 5th Place.

After his junior time Ivan Kuilakow needed several years to establish itself even among older people in the Russian and in the world top of his weight class. In 2010 he won a medal at the Russian Championship of seniors for the first time. He took it behind Rustam Chatschbarow and Vyacheslav Dschaste the 3rd place. He reached this place also at the Russian Championships in 2011 and 2012, behind 2011 Saur Kuramagomedow and Vyacheslav Dschaste and 2012 behind Saur Kuramagomedow and Ibragim Labasanow. Through this placement he had no chance of being nominated for the Russian Wrestling Federation for the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

2013 Ivan Kuilakow was then first Russian featherweight champion before Ibragim Labasanow, Mingijan Semyonov and Achmed Gadschimuradow. He had earned the right to be employed in the international championships this year. Even at the European Championships in 2013 in Tbilisi, he justified this confidence, even if he did not win the title. He defeated in Tbilisi Istvan Levai from Slovakia, Alexander Mikalejan from Armenia, Revaz Laschchi, Georgia and Lanur Temirow, Uzbekistan, but lost in the final against Iwo Angelov from Bulgaria on points (0-2 rounds, 0-3 points). In July 2013 he won at the Universiade in Kazan before Kamran Mammadow, Azerbaijan and Almat Kebispajew, Kazakhstan. Also at the World Championships in 2013 in Budapest, he was in very good shape. He defeated there Mikaeljan Alexander, Dimitri Zumbalijuk, Ukraine, Eslmurat Tasmuradow, Uzbekistan, Kazuma Kuramoto, Japan and Almat Kebispajew, before the finals to lose as with the European Championship against Iwo Angelov. This time however, very scarce, namely 1:2 and 2:3 rounds points ). He was so 2013 Vice World and European vice-champion.
