Ivan Nemet

Ivan Nemet ( born April 14, 1943 in Sombor, † December 16, 2007 in Basel ) was a Yugoslav- Swiss chess player.

Life

Ivan Nemet (now Serbia) born in 1943 in Sombor in Vojvodina in Yugoslavia. Even as a junior he was Yugoslav champion. In 1976 he received the title of International Master in 1978, he was Grand Master. In 1979 he won the Yugoslav Chess Championship in Bjelovar. In the early eighties he moved to Switzerland, first to Bern and later to Basel. In 1990, he won the Swiss Chess Championship in Arosa, Graubunden Canton, followed in 2002 by the title of Federal Champion in Basel.

Ivan Nemet died from a heart attack on 16 December 2007.

Clubs

In Switzerland, Ivan Nemet played first for the Clock Tower Club and later for the Chess Club Basel and Riehen for. Most recently, he was enrolled at the chess club and chess club Birseck Brombach ( Baden Chess Federation ) as a member, where he was active as a youth coach. Ivan Nemet was an excellent chess teacher; his greatest success was the Junior World Championship his junior GM Ognjen Cvitan 1981 in Mexico City.
