Ivon Moore-Brabazon, 3rd Baron Brabazon of Tara

Ivon Anthony Moore - Brabazon, 3rd Baron Brabazon of Tara ( born December 20 1946) is a British peer and politician.

Biography

Moore - Brabazon is the son of Derek Moore - Brabazon, 2nd Baron Brabazon of Tara, and Henrietta Mary Clegg. He attended Harrow School and then worked in the freight industry.

He inherited his father's title on December 11, 1974. Since 1983, he regularly participates in debates in the House of Lords. From 1984 to 1986 he worked as the Government Whip. 1989 to 1990 he was Minister of State at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office from 1990 to 1992, in the Ministry of Transport ( Department of Transport ). After the change of government Moore - Brabazon took over from 1998 to 2000 the office of the opposition spokesperson for Transport. Since 1993 he has been Deputy Lieutenant of the Isle of Wight.

Even after the House of Lords Act 1999, he continues to hold his seat in the House of Lords as an elected Hereditary Peer. He was elected Chairman of the Administration and Works Committee in 2001 and as a result, he was Cross Bencher. Previously, he was a member of the Conservative Party. Currently, he is listed as " independent member ".

From 2001 to 2002 he was Principal Deputy Chairman of Committees. Since 2002 he has been Chairman of Committees and Deputy Speaker.

Family

Moore - Brabazon is married to Harriet Frances Hamilton since September 8, 1979 and has a son with her, Benjamin Moore - Brabazon ( b. 1983 ), and a daughter, Mary Moore - Brabazon Anabel (* 1985).
