J Mays

J Mays (* October 15, 1954, in Pauls Valley (Oklahoma), USA ) is an automobile designer who greatly influenced European car designs of the 1980s and 1990s.

Life

J Mays ( the formation of his first name "J" is similar to that of his grandfather, SJ Mays ) visited in Oklahoma high school; later he attended the University of Oklahoma. After a successful visit to the university, he went to the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, which he successfully completed in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Transportation Design.

He began his career first as a designer at Audi. There he participated in the design of the Audi 80 in 1983, he was hired by BMW and was involved in the designs of the BMW 5 series; However, he returned in 1984 as a senior designer at Audi back.

In 1989, the designer returned to the U.S. and worked in Simi Valley, California, the former Advanced Design Studio of the Volkswagen Group. There he was instrumental in the study of the VW Concept 1 active, which was further developed into the production model VW New Beetle later. In 1997, he worked as a designer at the American Ford Motor Company. During this time he was responsible for the design of eight different brands of Ford Motor Company and designed for Ford, Mazda, Mercury, Lincoln, Volvo, Jaguar, Land Rover and Aston Martin.

Around the turn of the millennium he received several awards from universities, such as a price of his former college in Pasadena.
