Jake Burton Carpenter

Jake Burton Carpenter ( born April 29, 1954 in New York City ) is an American snowboarder and founder of Burton Snowboards. He is considered the co- inventor of the snowboard.

Life

Burton grew up in New York in Cedarhurst. He attended the High School " School Brooks " in North Andover (Massachusetts ) and subsequently joined Marvelwood School in Cornwall (Connecticut). Then Burton began a business degree from the University of Colorado in Boulder. Carpenter was a passionate skier, hoping for a career in the University ski team. Following a number of accidents he had to stop the study. Later, Jake Burton took after his college degree at New York University. His passion for skiing he further developed the Snurfer, the predecessor of today's snowboards. In 1977, the company Burton Burton Snowboards. Despite initial marketing difficulties, the company is now the world leader in products related to snowboarding.

Private

Burton is married and has three sons.
