James B. Clark (director)

James B. Clark ( born May 14, 1908 in Stillwater, Minnesota, † July 19, 2000 in Los Angeles, California ) was an American editor and film and television director.

Life

Clark began his career as an editor in 1937. Until 1960 he was involved in about 50 productions. In the 1950s, he turned to directing. First, he directed two episodes of the series Flicka, 1957, he turned to the war film Under Fire his first feature film. From the 1960s, he worked exclusively as a director for cinema and television alike. His focus was primarily on animal films and series.

As editor, he worked several times with director Henry Hathaway.

For his work on the film Green Was My Valley in 1942 he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Editing.

The Directors Guild of America honored him with director Alex Segal in 1967 with a DGA Award Outstanding Directorial Achievement in the category in Television for her work on Death of a Salesman from.
