Jan Hlaváč

January Hlaváč ( born September 19, 1976 in Prague, Czechoslovakia) is a Czech professional ice hockey player who stands since 2008 at Linköpings HC in the Swedish Elitserien under contract.

Career

Jan Hlaváč began his career as a hockey player with the HC Sparta Prague, for which he was active from 1993 to 1999 a total of six years in the Czech Extraliga. During this time he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1995 in the second round than a total of 28 players from the New York Islanders, for whom he never played, however. Instead, a contract was awarded to the attacker before the 1999/2000 season in their league rival New York Rangers, for whom he had the following two seasons in the National Hockey League on the ice. The Rangers had received the Czechs in the summer of 1999, among other things, Marc Savard of the Calgary Flames, the Hlaváč turn had received a year earlier for Jörgen Jönsson of the Islanders. After another change along with Kim Johnsson and Pavel Brendl to the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for Eric Lindros, he played between 2001 and 2003 or for the Vancouver Canucks and Carolina Hurricanes, before the links Sagittarius zurückkerhrte for the 2003/ 04 season to the Rangers. Due to the NHL lockout in the following year, the striker moved to Europe, where he was awarded a contract in his Czech homeland with his former club HC Sparta Prague.

After Hlaváč aground in the season 2005/ 06 for HC Servette Genève from the Swiss National League A, he played again in the following season in Prague and was the first time in his career, Czech champion. For the 2007 /08 season the winger returned to the NHL, where he played for the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Nashville Predators. Since the 2008/ 09 season Hlaváč stands at Linköpings HC of the Swedish Elitserien under contract, for which he ran aground in all four group matches in the Champions Hockey League, where he scored a goal.

Internationally

For Hlaváč Czech Republic took part in the U20 World Junior Championships in 1995 and 1996, as well as the World Championships in 1999, 2003, 2005 and 2006 in part. Overall, he was able to four medals - including two golds - win.
