Jan Nepomucen GÅ‚owacki

Jan Nepomuk Glowacki (* 1802 in Krakow, † July 28, 1847 there ), was a Polish painter, draftsman and miniaturist of romance.

Life

He was a son of the organ builder Blazej Glowacki and spent his school years in Lizeum to Saint Anne. From 1819 to 1825 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow under Antoni Brodowski and Józef Peszka. On the Academies in Prague, Munich, Rome (grant of Krakow ) and Vienna (with Franz Steinfeld ), he completed his education.

In 1828 Glowacki returned to Krakow. Here he worked as a teacher at St. Anna- Lizeum and later as an associate professor at the Academy. From 1837 he was a member of the Cracow Scientific Society. From 1840, he held the teaching of landscape painting at the School of Fine Arts.

Glowacki was a technically skilled painter who devoted himself to the first Polish painter views of the Tatras and Podhale the Vorgebirgsregion. So the painting in 1837 resulting of the mountain lake Morskie Oko is considered the first landscape paintings of the High Tatras. It represents the beginning of the Polish mountain painting, which gave him the title of father of the Polish landscape painting brought. In addition, he produced numerous portraits that were influenced by the Vienna Art School and Thomas Lawrence. Even religious and mythological motifs such as genre interpreted Glowacki.
