Jan Vokál

January Vokál ( born September 25, 1958 in Hlinsko, Czechoslovakia ) is a Roman Catholic theologian and 25th bishop of Hradec Králové ( Hradec Kralove ).

Life

January Vokál initially acquired a qualified electrician Matura at the Střední průmyslová škola elektrotechnická in Pardubice and graduated in 1983 at the Technical University in Prague ( CTU ) as a graduate engineer in technical cybernetics.

Vokál emigrated in 1983 from the former communist Czechoslovakia in the Vatican and entered the Pontifical Collegium Nepomucenum, the Czech seminary in Rome, and studied theology and philosophy at the Pontifical Gregorian University. He received on July 5, 1988 in Ellwangen by Jaroslav Skarvada, Auxiliary Bishop of Prague, the diaconate. After his diaconate in the parish of St. Dominic in Northfield and study at the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota he received on 28 May 1989 at St. Peter's Basilica by Pope John Paul II ordained priest. He was from 1989 to 1990 as parochial vicar in Normal, Illinois operates.

From 1991 Vokál employee was in the Section of General Affairs (First Section ) of the Vatican Secretariat of State. He also served from 1991 until his death in 2005 the personal secretary of Cardinal Corrado Bafile. In 2005, he earned a degree in canon law, and in 2008 received his doctorate at the Pontifical Lateran University in Canon Law and in 2009 at the Charles University in Prague in state law.

January Vokál was appointed papal prelate of honor in 1997 chaplain of His Holiness and 2007. Besides his work at the State Secretariat since 2005 he Coadjutor Kanonikerkapitels of Santa Maria Maggiore, one of the four patriarchal basilicas in Rome, where he also exercises his priestly ministry. Since 2005 he is a canon of the cathedral chapter of the Holy Spirit Cathedral in Hradec Králové.

On 3 March 2011 he was beatified by Benedict XVI. appointed 25 bishop of Hradec Králové. The episcopal ordination in St. Peter's in Rome 7 May 2011 gave him Cardinal Secretary of State Tarcisio Bertone, were co-consecrators the Archbishop of Prague, Dominik Duka and Mons. Erwin Josef Ender, Titular Archbishop of Germania in Numidia, Apostolic Nuncio to the Czech Republic (2001 to 2003). An Mai 14, 2011, solemn inauguration took place in Hradec Králové in the Holy Spirit Cathedral.

January Vokál speaks his native language, Czech, English and Italian; he understands German, Polish and Russian.
