Jana Bellin

Jana Bellin ( born December 9, 1947 in Prague, Czechoslovakia as Jana Malypetrová ) is an English chess champion of Czech origin.

Life

Bellin received in 1969 the title of a WIM ( Women's International Champion) and 1982 a WGM ( Woman Grandmaster ). Her tournament successes include the titles of the British women's champion of the years 1970, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1976, 1977 (after play-off ) and 1979.

Bellin has a doctorate in medical examiner and has specialized in anesthesia. She works in the intensive care unit at Sandwell General Hospital, West Bromwich, England.

She is also Chairman of the Medical Commission of the FIDE, which monitors the doping control of chess players.

Jana Bellin was married to the international master William Hartston, then with Grandmaster Tony Miles, and then with the International Master Robert Bellin. From the marriage with Bellin two sons (* 1989 and 1991 ) have emerged.

She is the granddaughter of Jan Malypetr, which was 1932-1935 Prime Minister of Czechoslovakia.

Bellin's current Elo rating (as of March 2014) is 2086, its highest Elo rating of 2340, it reached in January and July 1987.

Chess team

National

Bellin participated in 15 Chess Olympiads of women, namely in 1966 and 1969 with the Czechoslovak selection, 1972, 1976-1996 and 2006 with the English team. Your best results were a third place finish in 1969 and a second place in 1976. Moreover Bellin took part in the England team European Women's Championship in 1992.

Chess club

In the British Four Nations Chess League played Jana Bellin 1994-1999 for the crew of the British Chess Magazine from 1999 to 2012 for The ADs (2000 to 2002 under the name Beeson Gregory ) formed by the merger of the British Chess Magazine Index iT emerged ( in the 2001/ 02 season it was, however, used only in the second team ). 2001 Bellin won the 4NCL.
