Janet Blair

Janet Blair ( born April 23 1921 as Martha Jane Lafferty in Altoona, Pennsylvania, † February 19, 2007 in Santa Monica, California ) was an American film and television actress.

Biography

Janet Blair was born on 23 April 1921 as Martha Jane Lafferty. Her stage name Blair refers to its place of birth, the, Pennsylvania is located in Blair County. She began her career as a singer of Hal Kemp band. After the death of bandleader Hal Kemp, who died in a car accident in 1941, she switched to acting. She debuted in 1941 with the film Three Girls About Town. 1948, after the termination of their collaboration with Columbia Pictures, she moved from film to television and completed some series appearances. In 1950, she took on the lead role of Nellie Forbush in the musical South Pacific, where she had more than 1,200 performances until 1952. Later she said proudly about that time, " I never missed a performance" ("I have no idea failed "). While this commitment, she met her future husband, Nick Mayo. In 1957, she was in the movie Public Pigeon No.. 1 again before the camera. After a few more film appearances, including the rotated UK Hypno (1962 ), she took roles in television series such as The Outer Limits, The Love Boat and Fantasy Iceland. Her last performance was in 1991 in an episode of Murder, She Wrote.

Janet Blair was married twice, first marriage to Lou Busch ( 1943, divorce 1950), in a second marriage with producer Nick Mayo (1952, divorce in 1971 ). From the connection with Mayo two children Amanda (* 1959) and Andrew went out, (* 1961). Janet Blair died on 19 February 2007 at St. John's Health Center in Santa Monica, California.
