Jarosław, Duke of Opole

Jaroslaw (also: Jaroslaw of Opole; Polish: Jarosław Opolski, * 1143-1163; † March 22, 1201 ) was Duke of Opole and Bishop of Breslau.

Origin and family

Jaroslaw came from the dynasty of the Silesian Piast dynasty. His parents were Boleslaw I " the tall one" and Wenzlawa ( Zvinislava ) of Kiev. After their death, Boleslaw married to Adelheid, daughter of the Count Palatine Berengar of Sulzbach. This marriage produced four sons and two daughters, including:

  • Henry I († 1238 ), Duke of Silesia and Senior Duke of Poland
  • Adelheid, married to Margrave Diepoldsberg III. of Moravia

Life

It is not known whether Jaroslaw was even born during the exile of his father in Saxony or on its return to Silesia.
