Christopher Jason Witten ( born May 6, 1982 in Elizabethton, Tennessee) is an American football player. He plays as a tight end in the National Football League ( NFL) for the Dallas Cowboys.

Career

Witten has played in high school in his hometown of American football. He ran as a tight end and linebacker. On his college, the University of Tennessee, he came only as a tight end for use. After three years he left college prematurely. Witten was committed in the 2003 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys to 69 spot. The Cowboys were coached by Bill Parcells, the Witten began in the course of his first season as a starter. In this round he scored 35 pass catches. 2007 Witten had then been his best year statistically. By Tony Romo, who was able to establish itself as starting quarterback of the Cowboys from 2006, repeatedly staged, get him in the 2007 season 96 pass catches for a space gain of 1,145 yards. He also equaled this year with 15 pass catches the NFL record for most passes caught in a game as a tight end. In the years 2003, 2006, 2007, 2009, Witten was able to qualify his team for each of the Play Offs.

From 2004 to 2009 Witten played continuously in the Pro Bowl, the season final game of the best players of the season. Witten is at the Cowboys until 2012 under contract. He wrote this in 2006, and receives a salary of 29 million U.S. dollars.

Away from the NFL

Witten is married to a nurse and has two sons. He is involved in his own foundation that supports children from difficult backgrounds.
