Jayshree Gadkar

Jayshree Gadkar ( Marathi: जयश्री गडकर, Jayśrī Gaḍkar; born February 21, 1942 in Kanasgiri, Karnataka, † August 29, 2008 in Mumbai, Maharashtra ) was an Indian actress of the Maratha and the Hindi film. She started as a dancer, played in the sixties and seventies - years often lead roles as innocent and tearful daughter- in some of the longest and most sentimental Maratha films and dabbled in the 1990s shortly as a director.

Life

Jayshree Gadkar comes from the Konkan village Kanasgiri at Kanwar in the district of Uttara Kannada of present-day Indian state of Karnataka. Her first film appearance as an extra they had probably 1955 as background dancer in V. Shantarams Jhanak Jhanak Payal Baaje. More movies as a child she played under the direction of Raja Paranjpe. Her early roles in the 1950s and 1960s were strongly influenced by the game actress Hansa Wadkar, in Sangtya Aika (1959 ) by Anant Mane - played the role of her foster mother - Gadkars first great success. In rural dramas by Anant Mane and Dinkar D. Patil, she was often seen as a Tamasha dancer. Among her best-known films of this period include next Sangtya Aika also Manes Manini (1961) and Bhalji Pendharkars Mohityanchi Manjula (1963) and Sadhi Manse (1965). Among her film partners included Dara Singh and Chandrakant. Directed by Dhirubhai Desai and Babubhai Mistri she entered thereafter, especially in the 1970s on in mythological Hindi films. In Ramanand Sagar Ramayan television series, she starred in the 1980s Rams mother Kaushalya. In Sasar Maher (1994) and Ashi Asavi Saasu (1996 ), she directed.

Gadkars autobiography, Ashi Mi Jayshri appeared in 1986. She was married to actor Bal Dhuri.
