Jean Florette is a French film from the year 1986. The film is the first part of the film adaptation of the novel The water of the hills of Marcel Pagnol. The second part is called Manon's revenge.
Action
A village in Provence at the beginning of the 20th century. From the formerly large family Soubeyran only the uncle and the nephew of Ugolino papet are left. Jean de Florette plays in the movie harmonica. The harmonica theme is cited at several points in the film and played by the Belgian jazz musician Toots Thielemans. The theme of the music is taken from the opera The Force of Destiny (La Forza del Destino ) by Giuseppe Verdi.
