Jean-Michel Moreau

Jean -Michel Moreau ( born March 26, 1741 Paris, † November 30, 1814 in Paris ), also called Moreau le jeune, Moreau the Younger, was a French engraver and etcher.

Moreau is one of the most important illustrators of the French Rococo. With more than 2,000 works, he devoted himself to contemporary and literary topics ( illustrations to works of Ovid, Boccaccio, Moliere, Rousseau, and others). After his templates stabbed example Charles Emmanuel Patas, Nicolas Delaunay, Noël Lemire, Pietro Antonio Martini or later Jean -Baptiste -Blaise Simonet, Henri Joseph Remi Delvaux and Athalie Ribault.
