Jean-Paul Fournier

Jean -Paul Fournier ( born October 16, 1945 in Génolhac ) is a French politician. He is a member of the Senate since 2008.

Fournier graduated in Nimes from high school and attended a university in Brussels for advertising design. Later he was chairman of a trade union in its sector. From 1986 to 1999 he sat in the crafts chamber of the department of Gard. Since 1977 he was a member of the Rassemblement pour la République and in 1984 to his secretary in the first constituency of the department of Gard. In 1992 he rose to the Secretary to the Department. From 1986 to 2001 he was a deputy in the Regional Council of Languedoc -Roussillon. Since 1988 he is also a member of the General Council. At the same time he was a local politician in Nimes, including as deputy mayor. He was elected mayor in 2001, when what he was re-elected in 2008. 2007 Fournier was appointed an Officer of the Legion of Honour. A year later, he managed to move into the Senate.
