Life and work

Your images graced the cover of dozens of magazines. As a model for golf clothes she learned Jimmy Demaret know who recognized her great talent for golf immediately and within six months she was a professional trick golfer and his girlfriend.

Her acting debut was celebrated in 1948 on Broadway, as she was nominated with Bert Lahr for a role in Burlesque. Fans of horror movies will remember her for her role in the 1959 released movie The Monster of Piedras Blancas. Well-known films in which she received more support roles were in 1958 Diana Barrymore's Too Much Too Soon and 1957, the Stooges movie A Merry Mix -up.

In Hollywood she was friends with many celebrities such as Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Lex Barker, Jerry Lewis, Dean Martin, Errol Flynn, Clark Gable and John F. Kennedy. Marilyn Monroe was her neighbor on Doheny Drive and their famous friend and companion.

After Marilyn's death, she was threatened by Johnny Roselli, who worked for the Chicago Mafia boss Sam Giancana. She saw her life in danger, withdrew from Hollywood, fled to Scottsdale, Arizona and lived for over a decade incognito: dyed her platinum hair brunette, never mentioned her showbiz career, got married, moved up three children and led a quiet life.

On the basis of friendship with Monroe some documentaries were filmed.

Carmen died in December 2007 at the age of 77 years with malignant lymphoma.
