Paragould is a city in Greene County in the U.S. state of Arkansas with 23,100 inhabitants ( 2004) and the county seat of administration ( County Seat). The metropolitan area has a size of 79.8 km ².

The village was founded in 1882 at the junction of two railway lines and was officially registered on March 3, 1883 as a community. The name originated as Paragould composition of the names of two railway entrepreneur, Jay Gould and JW Paramore. While at the beginning the timber production of authoritative industry of the city, this important in the further development of more and more in favor of the establishment of factories.
