Jennifer Bartlett

Jennifer Bartlett ( born March 14, 1941 in Long Beach, California) is an American painter and sculptor.

Life and work

Bartlett grew up in Long Beach and studied at Mills College in Oakland, California, where she met Elizabeth Murray and since then maintains a friendship with her. She had at the University of touch with James Rosenquist, Jim Dine, Claes Oldenburg, Robert Rauschenberg, Alex Katz and Al Held. In 1963 she was awarded the Bachelor. After the Master ( 1965) at Yale School of Architecture in New Haven, she moved to New York where she was from 1972 to 1977 lecturer at the School of Visual Arts. She lives and works in New York.

Influenced by Sol LeWitt, the (1967 ) gave as an artist of minimalism with the art theoretical writing, Paragraphs on Conceptual Art important suggestions for the concept art, Bartlett initially worked meticulously to geometric paintings with abstract themes and very different color palette. She works with various painting surfaces such as sheet steel, mahogany and plywood.
