Jens Rohde

Jens Rohde ( born April 18, 1970 in Holstebro ) is a Danish politician ( Venstre ) and Member of the European Parliament.

Profession

Rohde worked 1984-1997 as a journalist at Radio Viborg, including as a sports commentator and reporter EU. At the same time he was 1991-1994 in advertising agencies CC Marketing Silkeborg and Viborg in Byro active. In 1998, he taught media at the Viborg Ungdomsskole. He ran his own consulting firm JR media and led from 1994, the trade association in Viborg. Finally, he wrote regularly in the newspapers of the Berlingske -Verlag.

Policy

Since 1993, Rohde is a member of the liberal Venstre party. In 1998, he moved into the Folketing. From 2001 to 2006 he was spokesman for his group. Against the majority of the group he voted for a law that lesbian or single women acknowledged a right to artificial insemination. In 2005 he resigned from the Danish National Church, after hundreds of pastors had criticized the asylum policy of the liberal- conservative government in the Christmas service. As Venstres media spokesman, he sat down energetically for privatization of the station TV 2.

By 9 January 2007, he left the Parliament to become director of TV 2 Radio. However, a post he lost on 13 November 2007, the date of the general election. His employer stated that incidents during the election campaign had doubts as to Rohde's political neutrality. Previously Rohde had clashed with top officials of the Social Democrats.

Since 2009, Rohde is a member of the European Parliament.
