Jeremy Hansen

Jeremy Roger Hansen ( born January 27, 1976 in London, Ontario Province ) is a Canadian astronaut who has completed no space flight.

Biography

At the age of 17 years, Hansen got his private pilot's license and the glider license. He then completed a training at a military academy in Saint -Jean -sur- Richelieu. Hansen also studied space research at the Royal Military College in Kingston. In 2000 he received from the same university a master's degree in physics for his work in the field of satellite tracking.

In 1994, Hansen was recruited by the Canadian Armed Forces and served as a fighter pilot of CF -18 jets, the Canadian version of the F/A-18. He was also stationed with a squadron in Cold Lake, where he was responsible for the care of the NORAD air defense operations. Hansen, who was appointed during his active service several times to operations in the United States and Europe, has held the rank of Major.

Astronauts activity

On 13 May 2009, the Canadian Space Agency ( CSA) Hansen appointed as a member of the third Canadian astronaut group in their astronauts squad. Hansen completed by September 2011 together with U.S. astronauts at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, the training mission specialist. Since then he has worked at JSC in the area for the ISS, thereby allowing the astronauts of the ISS Expeditions 33 and 34 support, including the Canadian Astronaut Chris Hadfield heard. Private

Hansen grew up on a farm in Ailsa Craig and later moved to Ingersoll, there to complete a high school education. He is married and has three children. His hobbies include sailing, climbing and mountain biking.
