Sports career

Husband was from October 1964 a member of the professional team of FC and Everton Matchday penultimate of the season 1964/65 he made his debut against Fulham (1-1) in the English top flight as a replacement for Derek Temple. At this time he still won with the youth team to the FA Youth Cup and in the following three years, he became successively first-team regular in the first team. Had the case at the beginning still held the position of half- striker, he found more and more in the henceforth preferred role of the right winger. For the first time special attention gained Husband, who began to graduate in the English U -23 internationals in 1967, the FA Cup and in two consecutive quarter-finals, he scored two goals each. The two matches at Nottingham Forest (2:3) initially were not sufficient on April 8, 1967 to a victory, but a year later against Leicester City ( 3-1 ), they ensured the semi-finals. As Everton despite widespread superiority subject later in the final against West Bromwich Albion 0-1, Husband had counted among the most unfortunate players - free-standing in front of goal he had not used a very good header chance.

The head ball game had never heard in the course of his career to the strengths. Rather, Husband recorded by speed, agility and general good technical skills of the foot. The playing style was often very public appeal, even though the services were frequently subject to sharp fluctuations. He was regarded as it as a footballer who could " turn " a game, but after less fortunate actions already once lost self-confidence. His specialty was diagonal runs from the outside to the center, through which he tried to force the opposing full-back to leave their ancestral position. Also wide attention was his status as a " stand-up guy " because he understood often after only a short time to get up again for a challenge to continue the current action. The performance he reached the zenith in the 1968/69 season, as he scored 20 Goals in official matches and he behind center forward Joe Royle was Everton's so unerring art actor. When the " Toffees " it won the English championship in, Husband contributed to the success of 30 missions and six goals. After the league title Husband increasingly plagued with injury problems and in November 1973 he left the club in the direction of the second division side Luton Town.

In Luton to Husband led to the new team well and at the end of the 1973/74 season was the rise as second division runners-up. However, in the following year it went back to Second Division. Here, Husband shot at his Erstligarückkehr just three league goals and at the end missed Luton relegation - level on points with Chelsea FC - margin of just one point behind Tottenham Hotspur. After three more years for Luton in the second league Husband ended the playing career in England to resume shortly in North American professional football.

In the course of the five years until his final career end of 1983 he first played in the North American Soccer League for the Memphis Rogues, and later in the professional indoor football, the Major Indoor Soccer League, Cleveland Force, and most recently in the American Soccer League for the Oklahoma City Slickers.
