Jinggoy Estrada

Jose Pimentel Ejercito Jr. ( born January 23, 1963 in Manila ), the Philippines known as Jinggoy Estrada, is a Filipino actor and politician.

Biography

Study, Mayor and actor

Jose Ejercitoa is the eldest son of former President Joseph Estrada and the former senator Luisa " Loi " Ejercito Estrada Pimentel.

After attending primary school and secondary school of the Ateneo de Manila University, he studied economics at the University of the Philippines and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (BA Economics) from. He then completed a postgraduate course in law at the Lyceum University and finished this with a Bachelor of Laws ( LL.B. ).

During his studies, he began his political career and was in June 1988, his father was 1968-1986 at the age of just 25 years Vice- Mayor of San Juan, whose mayor.

Subsequently, he was between June 1992 and June 2001, Mayor of San Juan and to just 29 years in his first election of the youngest ever elected mayor of a Philippine city. During his three terms, he advocated for an economic, social, political and cultural development of the city. He promoted modernization programs for the Barangay Office with a child care in all barangays, the renovation of the San Juan National High School and other public primary schools and promoted the construction of recreational facilities for sports halls, basketball courts, playgrounds, as well as other public works at construction of drainage systems, municipal roads and the construction of four-story San Juan Medical Center and the San Juan Municipal High School. During his last three -year period between 1998 and 2001 he was also President of the League of Municipalities (League of Municipalities of the Philippines ), the representative of the interests of 1525 municipalities in the Philippines against the government.

Senator

In elections in May 2004, he was elected for a six year term as a member of the Senate. In elections in May 2010, he was re-elected for a further term.

During this time, he served as Chairman of the Committee on Labour, Employment and Human Resources and entered as such for human resource development, maintaining the operational peace, promotion of cooperation between employers and workers, trade union education, standardization, statistics, organization of the labor market including recruitment, training and hiring of workers and foreign missions of human resources, guest workers in the Philippines, promotion and organization of labor and other labor-intensive technologies. In addition, he was also Chairman of the Supervisory Committee of the Congress of Labor and Employment ( COCLE ).

In addition to numerous other committee memberships he was vice chairman of the committees on games, entertainment and sports as well as for public information and mass media.

Since June 2007 he has been President of the Senate pro tempore, and thus representative of the Senate President in his absence or illness.

During his Senate membership, he submitted 289 legislative initiatives and resolutions that dealt in addition to employment law issues with local politics, the work of the Congress and the promotion of youth welfare. Among the most important draft laws included here, the National Labor Relations Commission Bill, the Human Rights Victims Compensation Act as well as additional articles to the National Internal Revenue Code.

Actor

Like his father, he was also during the study, but also as an actor and senator got for his performance in the film Farita Punzalan Story of the Filipino Academy for Movie Art and Science ( FAMAS ) award for the best supporting actor.
