Jingo de Lunch

Jingo de Lunch is a German rock band that was founded in April 1987 in Berlin. With a woman's voice in the foreground and English-only lyrics they play a mix of hard rock and punk.

Band name

In an interview on 3 September 2007 in the punk show " New Rose Radio" on the open channel Berlin Yvonne Duckworth and Henning Menke explained the origin and meaning of the name. Looking for a name they had an English dictionary leafed through until she came across the word " Jingo ", the " jingoistic, patriotic, aggressive person " means colloquial. " De Lunch " means something like " to throw up ".

Band History

Jingo de Lunch was founded in Berlin. Frontwoman Yvonne Duckworth came originally from Canada and had previously, as well as the guitarist Josef Ehrensberger and Tom Schwoll and bassist Henning Menke, gained experience in various punk and heavy metal bands. Steve Hahn came out of the punk scene around the lake. In 1987, the band played in just seven days a debut album Perpetuum Mobile. Shortly thereafter, she won a tendered by the Berlin Senate talent competition. The band was appreciatively received from the independent scene and brought at regular intervals albums on the market. Jingo de Lunch played the opening act of the Ramones, the Bad Brains and the Rollins Band, as well as Motörhead and Die Toten Hosen.

The commercial breakthrough did not materialize. Tom Schwoll left the band in 1994 and moved to extra wide. 1997, the other band members went their separate ways. Yvonne Duckworth moved to the U.S., and Steve Hahn was roadie for the dead trousers. Henning Menke and Joseph Ehrensberger also joined other bands.

In summer 2006, Jingo de Lunch went into the old line on tour through Germany, Austria and Italy. 2007 was The Independent Years, a compilation of her old songs on the market. In December 2007, Joseph Ehrensberger left for personal reasons the band. The group decided to continue as a quartet. Since 2008, Jingo de Lunch is working on new songs. In May and June 2008, the band played several concerts in Germany and Spain. With performances and jam sessions Jingo de Lunch was supported by guitarist Tico Zamora. Since 2009, Tom Schwoll and Tico Zamora were replaced by the new guitarist Gary Schmalzl.
