Jiří Malec

Jiří Malec (* November 24, 1962 in Vlastibor ) is a former Czechoslovakian ski jumper.

Malec announced on March 23, 1985 his debut in the World Cup Ski Jumping. He had already reached the normal hill in Štrbské Pleso 11th place his first World Cup points. It took despite this success, nearly three years until he was part of the World Cup squad again. Only the Four Hills Tournament 1987/88 he joined again in the World Cup, and reached when jumping in Garmisch -Partenkirchen with space 10 again a placement within the points.

At the Olympic Winter Games in Calgary in 1988 Malec jumped on the large hill on the 24th Place. From the normal hill he surprisingly won the bronze medal and was beaten only Matti Nykänen and his compatriot Pavel Ploc. In the team competition, he jumped together with Ladislav Dluhoš, Pavel Ploc and Jiří Parma on the 4th Place.

Four weeks after the Olympics reached Malec in Meldal with 3rd place his first and only podium finish. Also in the 1988/89 World Cup season he jumped regularly scoring points and ended the season at the end on the 29th place in the overall World Cup standings. In the Nordic World Ski Championships 1989 in Lahti, he reached the 19th place on the large hill.
