Joachim Böhmer

Joachim Böhmer ( born October 1, 1940 in Berlin, † 28 December 1999 ) was a rower from the GDR. He was third in the Olympic double sculls in 1972.

Joachim Bohemian in 1953 started walking and rowing regattas took off in 1957. The rowers from the SC Dynamo Berlin occurred during his tenure at East championships in seven different boat classes and won nine league titles. At the World Championships 1966 he won the bronze medal with the eighth. 1969 won Bohemian in the East German championship in the one at the European Championships and finished second behind Alberto Demiddi but before Jochen Meissner. From 1970 Bohemian joined with Hans -Ulrich smith in the double sculls. The two won silver at the 1970 World Cup, Gold at the European Championships in 1971 and bronze at the 1972 Olympics in Munich. In 1971 he was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze.

Bohemian was married to the rudder European Champion Irmgard Brendenal. A trained brewer later studied political science and then worked as a criminalist at the People's Police in Berlin- Köpenick.
