Joan Armatrading

Joan Armatrading ( born December 9, 1950 in Basseterre, St. Kitts ), grew up in Birmingham, England, is a singer- songwriter. Your music moves somewhere between R & B, rock and folk. Some of their singles have been in the UK hits, including Love & Affection (# 10), Me Myself I ( # 21), and Drop the Pilot ( # 11, U.S. # 78). Primarily, however, it is a music artist. Your 2007er production Into the Blues reached number 1 on the U.S. Billboard Blues charts.

Their debut album Whatever 's for Us, published in 1972, was not a great success. After some difficulties with their record label Cube Records she succeeded in 1974 in collaboration with Pete Gage ( Ex Vinegar Joe ) switching to A & M Records. For this label Joan Armatrading published up to and including 1992 15 albums. Over the decades, they combined different styles of music, including jazz and reggae and has been nominated three times for a Grammy.

She is patron of the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, and there honored since 2001 as a " Companion ".

Since May 2011 she has been married to her partner Maggie Butler. In addition Armatrading is socially engaged as directors of the foundation Camfeld, which campaigns for the education of girls in sub-Saharan Africa.
