Joe Cassar

Joseph "Joe" Cassar ( born May 19, 1966) is a Maltese politician of the Nationalist Party and Parliamentary Secretary.

Biography

Joe Cassar, after obtaining his education at St. Aloysius ' College in Birkirkara to study medicine at the University of Malta, which he awarded the degree of Doctor of Medicine ( MD) graduated in 1990. He then continued his education to become a specialist in psychiatry and worked as such at Yale University in New Haven ( Connecticut ). Later he was for some years adviser to the Maltese health authorities and at the same time as lecturer Lecturer at the University of Malta. During his student and professional career, he was president of the Association of Medical Students (Malta Medical Students Association ), member of the executive of the Maltese Medical Association ( Medical Association of Malta) and President of the Psychiatric Association of Yale University. In addition, Dr. Cassar is an active member of Pax Romana ICMICA (International Catholic Movement for Intellectual and Cultural Affairs ). As a psychiatrist, he published a series of further psychiatric essays.

Dr. Cassar began his political career in 2004 when he was first elected as substitutes for Joseph Bonnici as a candidate of the Nationalist Party MPs to the House of Representatives. As a parliamentarian he said among other things, the investigation because of the huge cost overruns in the construction of Mater Dei Hospital in Msida.2008 he was re-elected as MP for the constituency 11.

After the electoral victory of the Partit Nazzjonalista in the parliamentary elections in Malta in 2008 he was appointed by Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi on 12 March 2008 to the Parliamentary Secretary for Health, Office of the Minister of Social Affairs John Dalli and advises the Minister of Social Affairs also regarding questions of staffing in state hospitals.
