Johann Christian August Heyse

Johann Christian August Heyse (* April 21, 1764 in Nordhausen, † June 27, 1829 in Magdeburg ) was a German pedagogue, grammarian and lexicographer.

Life

Heyse studied from 1783 to 1786 in Göttingen theology and education and then was from 1792 teacher at the Gymnasium in Oldenburg. In 1807 he became rector of the grammar school and the director of a private school under construction to Nordhausen. 1819 eventually became director of the higher girls' school in Magdeburg and remained there until his death. He lived at the address Fürstenwall road 6

His most important publications were his theoretical and practical German grammar ( and its various abstracts ) and also be published in many editions of foreign words.

His sons Karl Wilhelm Ludwig Heyse, Friedrich Theodor Heyse and Gustav Ferdinand Heyse their time were also renowned scientists.
