Johannes Hentschel

Johannes Hentschel (* May 10, 1908, † April 27, 1982 in Achern, Baden- Württemberg), called Hannes Hentschel, was a machinist in the " Führerbunker " of Adolf Hitler and the last staff members, of the bunker on May 2, 1945 left.

Life

Hentschel was hired on July 4, 1934 as electrical machines champion in the Old Reich Chancellery in Berlin, from mid-April 1945, he served in the Führer's bunker located in the engine room supply aggregates.

He was with Rochus Misch, the only, the last permanently resided in the so-called Führerbunker and also slept there. Hentschel cared for light and water, mixed by telephone and teletype for the contact to the outside. Five minutes after mixing had left the bunker on May 1, Joseph and Magda Goebbels killed with cyanide. Both were transported the next morning up and burned incompletely. Hentschel founded his whereabouts later with his responsibility for the persons in the emergency hospital of the basement of the New Reich Chancellery, as his machinist activity was essential for the electricity, water and air supply to the system and thus the life of the wounded and there seeking protection of civilians.

Hentschel was taken on 2 May 1945 at 9 clock in the morning by the Red Army prisoners of war that lasted until 4 April 1949. He died in 1982 in Achern.
