Johannes Munnicks

John Munnicks (also: Jean Munniks, Munnix, Munnicx, Munnigk, Munick Jan Munnickius; * October 16, 1652 in Utrecht, † June 10, 1711 ) was a Dutch physician.

Life

The son of a pharmacist enrolled in 1670 at the University of Utrecht. Here he received his doctorate on December 13, 1670 with the theme de Fluore muliebri under Isbrand van Diemerbroeck to the doctor of medicine. Later he published the Tractatus de urinus, earumque inspectione (Utrecht 1674 Dutch: Verhandelinge the wateren, en hoe men dezelve bezien moet of D, van Haag occurred, Dordrecht 1683) and was in 1677 utilitate with the inaugural De anatomiae lecturer in anatomy at the Utrecht university. On December 2, 1678 it convened the curators of the Utrecht University associate professor of surgery.

This position he resigned on December 12, 1678 with the speech De praestantia rei herbariae and knew the place the first two years without pay. On February 9, 1680 he became a full professor of surgery and soon after on February 15, 1680 professor of anatomy and botany. He had devoted himself primarily as a practitioner of anatomy and surgery and was town physician in Utrecht. In addition, he also participated in the organizational tasks of the university and was in the years 1685/86, 1694/95 and 1710/11 Rector of the Alma Mater.
