John Alexander Magee

John Alexander Magee ( born October 14, 1827 in Landisburg, Perry County, Pennsylvania, † November 18, 1903 in New Bloomfield, Pennsylvania ) was an American politician. Between 1873 and 1875 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

John Magee attended the common schools and the New Bloomfield Academy. He then worked in the printing trade. For some years he edited the newspaper Perry County Democrat. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Democratic Party launched a political career. In 1863 he was a member of the House of Representatives from Pennsylvania. In the years 1868, 1876 and 1896, he participated as a delegate to the Democratic National Conventions relevant.

In the congressional elections of 1872 Magee was in the 15th electoral district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Richard Jacobs Haldeman on March 4, 1873. Since he was not nominated by his party for re-election in 1874, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1875.

After his time in the U.S. House of Representatives John Magee took his previous activities on again. He died on 18 November 1903 in New Bloomfield.
