John Berkey

John Berkey ( born August 13, 1932 in Edgley, North Dakota, † April 29, 2008 in Excelsior, Minnesota ) was an American painter.

Berkey worked in the state of Minnesota. He began as a draftsman of motives for historical calendar and designed space designs for NASA, before he started in 1972 to draw book cover for the publisher Ballantine Books. His artistic activity moved from there on in the field of science fiction painting. He became internationally known as a poster artist for the film trilogy Star Wars by George Lucas, The Towering Inferno, King Kong and other films.
