John Butler Trio
The John Butler Trio is named after the lead singer and lead guitarist John Butler Trio music.
John Butler was born on April 1, 1975 in Torrance, California. After his family temporarily lived in LA, she moved again in 1986 in the Australian homeland of his father. From then on, the family lived in Pinjarra, a small village in the west of Australia. Currently, John Butler lives with his wife Daniella and his two children in two domiciles outside of Byron Bay and Melbourne. After John Butler had broken his art studies, he was first active as a street musician. In 1998 he founded the John Butler Trio, which occurred from then on with a rotating cast. 2003 were added Shannon Birchall ( bass, Melbourne) and Michael Barker ( drummer, New Zealand).
In 2007 the band made an appearance at the Live Earth concert in Sydney.
He became known among other things for his virtuoso Lapsteelspiel ( guitar rests on your thighs ) and that he mostly with "open tunings" (guitar is tuned to a chord) plays.
On 23 March 2009 John Butler announced on the band's official website that he would be separated in April of his former band members. The reasons for this are " purely artistic ". 2009 came, born in Malta, Nicky Bomba, who was involved in the recording of the album Sunrise over Sea in 2004 ( drummer, Melbourne) and Byron Luiters ( bassist, Sydney ) to a trio and put with John Butler as the lead singer the current line- dar.
John Butler founded with a friend his own record label Jarrah Records. It is named after a South Australian eucalyptus. In addition to the John Butler Trio and The Waifs publish their plates at Jarrah Records.
On August 31, 2013 John Butler announced the withdrawal Nicky Bomba. Was succeeded by Grant Gerathy with which the JBT 2014 tour.
