John Charles Wester

John Charles Wester ( born November 5, 1950 in San Francisco) is a bishop of Salt Lake City.

Life

John Charles Wester received on May 15, 1976, ordained priest for the Archdiocese of San Francisco.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on 30 June 1998 as Auxiliary Bishop in the Archdiocese of San Francisco, as well as titular bishop of Lamiggiga. The Archbishop of San Francisco, William Joseph Levada, donated him then on 18 September of the same year the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were Archbishop Emeritus of San Francisco, John Raphael Quinn, as well as the coadjutor of the Diocese of San Jose in California, Patrick Joseph McGrath.

On 8 January 2007 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him. Bishop of Salt Lake City, on 14 March 2007, the coronation took place.
