John Dehner

John Dehner ( November 23, 1915 in Staten Iceland, New York as John Forkum; † February 4, 1992 in Santa Barbara, California ) was an American actor who in approximately 300 international film and between the years 1941 and 1988 TV productions before the camera was. Including in such films as The first bullet hits, one must believe in it, The man from the West or the red squadron.

Life and career

John Dehner, born in 1915 in Staten Iceland, in the state of New York, in its almost 50-year film career was a busy and sought-after actors. Starting as animators assistant at the Walt Disney Studios, Dehner worked early in his career as a professional pianist, Army publicist and journalist.

His breakthrough as a popular actor, he managed, however, only in the early 1950s as a hard-nosed Westerner, a part which he varied over the years in numerous roles in American cinema. Because of its distinctive exterior, he was also frequently occupied in the role of villain, but he mastered routine with wit and character. He had in Russell Rouse's precious Western The first bullet hits opposite Glenn Ford, Arthur Penn's film adaptation of the Sheriff Pat Garrett in One must believe in it, along with Paul Newman, who took over the role of Billy the Kid Striking performances. In addition, in Anthony Mann's Western drama The Man from the West with Gary Cooper and Lee J. Cobb.

In Burt Kennedy's Western adventure about the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in the red squadron he starred with Robert Ryan, the second male lead.

From 1952 until the late 1980s, he had numerous appearances in episodes of well-known television series as in Rogue against crooks, Hogan's Heroes, The Man from UNCLE, Gunsmoke, Mission: Impossible take, Mannix, The Chief, The Men from Shiloh, Petrocelli, the hard hitting five, Adventure of the road, in two episodes of Columbo, in Rockford - just call in Quincy or Hawaii Five-O.

Dehner worked into old age. He played his last role in 1988 in three episodes of the U.S. miniseries firestorm and ash as Admiral Ernest King.

February 4, 1992 John Dehner died at the age of 76 years in Santa Barbara, California.
