John E. Exner

John E. Exner, Jr. ( born April 18, 1929 in Syracuse, New York; † 20 February 2006) was an American psychologist.

Exner earned his bachelor and master's degree from Trinity University in Texas and was awarded a doctorate in clinical psychology at Cornell University in 1958. Between 1968 and 1969 he headed the Office of Selection for the regions of East Asia, Pacific, North Africa, Middle East and South Asia of the Peace Corps of the United States of America. From 1969 to 1979 he worked at the Long Iceland University as Professor and Director of Clinical Training. In 1984 he retired from the Faculty of Long Iceland University.

John E. Exner's name is closely associated with his work on the standardization of interpretations of the Rorschach test. It is an inkblot form deuterium attempt to render to shed light on the personality of the subject. Exner developed a standard for the interpretation and interpretation of the results, which helped the Rorschach test to recognition as a psychometric instrument.

Exner is the Managing Director of Rorschach Workshops, which are held for training purposes in Asheville, North Carolina.

For his life's work John E. Exner, Jr. in 1980 was awarded the Bruno Klopfer Award.
