John Hepworth

John Anthony Hepworth ( born 1944 in Adelaide ) is an Australian Anglican bishop. He was from 2003 to 2012 Primate of the Traditional Anglican Communion, which is not in full communion with the Anglican Communion. Since 1998 he has been bishop of the Diocese of Australia in the Anglican Catholic Church in Australia, which is part of the Traditional Anglican Communion.

Life

1968 Hepworth was ordained a Roman Catholic priest in the Archdiocese of Adelaide. In 1976, he joined the Anglican Church of Australia. He was formerly Chairman of the Australia- Vietnam Human Rights Committee in South Australia.

Hepworth advocates a full communion of the Traditional Anglican Communion with the Roman Catholic Church and is instrumental in the creation of the personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of the Southern Cross in Australia involved.
