John Hodge (screenwriter)

John Hodge ( born 1964 in Glasgow, Scotland ) is a British writer and doctor.

Life

John Hodge was born a descendant of a family of doctors in Glasgow and grew up. Following tradition, he studied in the years 1982-1987 medicine at Edinburgh University and worked for several years as a doctor in Edinburgh. After he had there at a film festival the film producer Andrew Macdonald know in 1990, he began to write screenplays. In 1993 he moved to London, where he worked as a doctor and wrote more screenplays, including for Trainspotting - Neue Helden.

His screenplays have been filmed in large part by Danny Boyle, for his film he Trainspotting number of awards received. He won with this 1996 film BAFTA Award for Best Screenplay; In 1997 he was nominated for an Oscar for best adapted screenplay and won the BAFTA Scotland and the Evening Standard British Film Award.
