John II van Sierck

John of Sierck († 1305 in Toul ) was from 1290 to 1296 Bishop of Utrecht and from 1296 to 1305 Bishop of Toul.

Life

Johann was born into the family of Lorraine Sierck. He was archdeacon of cards in the archdiocese of Trier and papal chaplain. 1291 he was appointed by Past Nicholas IV without prior election by the General Chapter of the bishop of Utrecht. When he tried to trigger pledged to Gisbrecht van Amstel and Herman van Woerden castles Vreeland and Montfoort again, he was denied this. With the help of the Dutch Count Florens V. succeeded to conquer the castles. He reformed the clergy of his diocese, and collected money for the continuation of the construction of the cathedral. But not as he could to rid the diocese from the influence of Holland. 1296 he was transferred from Boniface VIII to Toul. There, he managed to restore the long- disturbed order.
