John McAlle

John E. McAlle ( born January 31, 1950 in Liverpool ) is a former English footballer. As a central defender, he was for many years active for the Wolverhampton Wanderers and is one of only six actors who denied more than 500 appearances for the " Wolves ".

Sports career

In July 1965, " Scouse " concluded John McAlle was later called by his teammates, given his Liverpool home, the youth department of Wolverhampton Wanderers. After receiving his first professional contract in February 1967, he played first the majority of games for the reserve team and came on 29 April 1968 the 0-1 defeat against Chelsea on his debut in the "first team ". However, part of the professional cadre, he was only in the 1970/71 season, when he replaced John Holsgrove and Frank Munro was the new central defense. He quickly developed due to its strength in the tackle and the physical presence of a good name, although he is little participated in the offensive game and rarely left their own half.

The first results were not long in coming, and after winning the Texaco Cup in 1971, he was a regular in the team that reached the UEFA Cup Final in the 1971/72 season, where Tottenham Hotspur defeated. After two more years of winning the League Cup was the next milestone and after the temporary relegation to the Second Division, he led his team directly as second division champions back into the English elite class. With the arrival of the European Cup Winner's Emlyn Hughes McAlle be found from 1979 often on the bench, and came mostly just to tool changes. To this end, he broke in February 1980 in the match against FC Watford one leg, returned only eleven months later, back in the team and was never again the player with the quality shown above. In August 1981, ended his long connection to the " Wolves " after it had been denied him another contract extension. For the club at Bramall Lane, he completed 18 games, won the fourth division championship and moved on to Derby County. There, he played again for nearly two years in the second division and was in March 1984 against FC Barnsley last time in a professional game on the court. His active career, he was then allowed to fade away when based in Wolverhampton amateur club FC Harrison. After the end of sporting career, he worked as a landscape gardener and now lives as a pensioner in Brewood in South Staffordshire District.
