John Mealing

John Mealing (* April 5, 1942 Yeovil ) is a British keyboardist, who was active as a composer and arranger.

Mealing was the mid-1960s as a pianist to a quintet of Don Rendell and Ian Carr. In 1969 he was one of the founding members of the jazz-rock band If, with the he recorded four albums and he belonged to the first resolution in 1972. Then took him Klaus Doldinger in his group Passport ( Second Passport ). In the next few years he worked with Mick Ronson, John Entwistle, Tim Hardin, Status Quo, Long John Baldry and Michael Giles before he helped Nomad Ness and numerous other albums in the album in the band Strawbs. As a studio musician, he was also involved in albums by John Glover, Leo Sayer and the Swingle Singers.

Mid-1980s, arranged Mealing for The Style Council, The Blow Monkeys and The Pet Shop Boys. Between 1986 and 1993 he composed for the BBC shows Every Second Counts and Bob's Full House, then for the television series Press Gang and Scarf Jack. He also wrote the music for The Secret Policeman's Biggest Ball ( 1989).
