Yeovil [ joʊvɪl ] is an English town in the south of the county of Somerset, at the confluence of the rivers Yeo and Perett, with 41,871 inhabitants ( 2001). It is the administrative seat of the district of South Somerset.

History

The name derives originally from Yeovil from Anglo-Saxon and means a river fork ( " Vil ") of " Yeo ".
