John Nash, Baron Nash

John Stoddard Alfred Nash, Baron Nash ( born March 22, 1949) is a British businessman, politician of the Conservative Party and member of the House of Lords.

Professional career

Nash studied law at Corpus Christi College, Oxford and became a lawyer before he dealt with the finance. Nash was 1975-1983 Assistant Director of Lazard Brothers and Co Ltd before 1986, he was Managing Director of the private equity firm Advent Limited. He is co-founder of the private equity firm Sovereign Capital, which was founded in 1988. He was 1988 and 1989 Chairman of the British Venture Capital Association and sits on the Board of the Centre for Policy Studies. He is also the former chairman of Care UK, one of the largest contractors of the National Health Service.

Political career

In 2013, it was announced that he was to be Minister of the Schools Department for Education. He also was on January 21, 2013 as Baron Nash, of Ewelme in the County of Oxfordshire Life Peer. Together with his wife he has almost £ 300,000 donated to the Conservative Party and, according to The Telegraph give the reason for concern because of its political donations and a possible conflict of interest, although the Ministry of Education said that he would not make business decisions as long as he was in office.
